Service Description
Handbuilding Pottery Workshop – Clay Beach Studio: The Handbuilding Pottery Workshop at Clay Beach Studio is a beginner-friendly, hands-on session that introduces participants to working with clay without the use of a potter’s wheel. This workshop focuses on learning fundamental handbuilding techniques while giving participants the freedom to explore clay and create forms based on their own ideas and comfort level. Duration: Each session runs for 2 hours. Workshop Objective: This workshop is designed for learning, exploration, and guided making. Participants are supported to: - Understand clay preparation and handling - Learn core handbuilding techniques such as pinch, coil, and slab construction - Explore form, texture, and structure - Create one or more clay forms within the given time and clay provided, which may be functional, decorative, or abstract There is no single fixed product for this workshop. The focus is on experimenting with techniques and completing pieces based on individual pace and interest. Materials & Inclusions: - 1 kg of clay per participant - Use of professional pottery tools and materials - Aprons are provided - Instructor-led guidance throughout the session Private Session Policy: Some workshops may include other participants. If you would prefer a private session, you’re welcome to request one in advance, and we’ll do our best to accommodate it. Firing & Glazing: - Firing and glazing are not included by default - These services are offered only if the pieces are structurally suitable for firing - Experimental or abstract forms may not always qualify - Additional charges apply, depending on the size of the pieces Firing Timeline & Pickup: Firing typically takes 3–4 weeks. Timelines may extend due to kiln availability or unforeseen circumstances Delivery is not included Participants must pick up their finished pieces from the studio once notified Important Notes: - Comfortable clothing is recommended - Long nails may affect detailing work - Cracks, warping, or glaze variations are natural outcomes of the ceramic process and cannot be guaranteed against Who This Workshop Is For: This workshop is ideal for beginners, first-time learners, creative explorers, families, friends, or anyone interested in working with clay through handbuilding techniques.
